Now that we are fully into 2018 (crazy isn't it?!), I wanted to share my Word of the Year post that I do every year about this time. When choosing a word, I spend some time reflecting on the previous year while setting new goals and aspirations for the upcoming year. Rather than creating specific resolutions, I choose a word that best embodies my vision for the new year. I really love this tradition because it's easy to recall your word throughout the year & focus (or refocus) on your goals. So without further ado, my 2018 word of the year is...
1. construct by putting parts/material together over a period of time.
2. to progress toward a peak; to develop something.
This year, I want to Build:
My Faith //
A relationship with God is something of absolute necessity in my life. It makes up a huge part of who I am + how I view the world. During the past year I finally gave my faith a "front seat" to my life after being introduced to a church called The Belonging Co. in Nashville by a dear friend. Soon my faith, my hope, my heart & soul all restored in HIS LOVE. My intention this year is to continue building my faith: getting into the word, join a bible study group, spend one on one time in His presence. It's the most important relationship we can form and nurture. He endlessly chases after my heart (and yours too), the least I can do is to let Him in it.
My Business //
For those that don't know, I'm a Professional Makeup Artist with over 5 years experience in the industry. I am also certified in Microblading. The last year or so I put my artistry on the back burner and I've truly missed it. Now that Johnny and I have moved to Georgia, I've decided to pick up the makeup brushes again and build my Makeup Artistry business again. Bring on all the weddings! I'm happiest when I'm creating so building my business includes Blush + Soul too. I do this because I absolutely adore it, so 2018 is the year to start treating my blog like the business I believe it could be. After all, being able to create content for an actual living...that's the goal.☆
My Dreams //
Henry David Thoreau said, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined." Since a young age this has always been a favorite quote of mine and it still resonates with me now. In 2018, I'm no longer waiting for my life to happen, no longer letting fear stop me from achieving my goals. No, in 2018 I'm building my dreams into reality, I'm *building* the life I've imagined. I'm ready.
If 2017 taught me anything, it's that life is short, life isn't fair all the time, & sometimes it down right hurts to breathe, but life is a pretty magical thing we get to experience when you stop and think about it. There's nothing holding you back from building the life you're dreaming of. Hard work, determination, and faith in God is a pretty good place to start...
